Litigation is not always the right process. You may find yourself involved in a business, divorce or other family dispute that could possibly be resolved through mediation. Many times, clients are hesitant to engage in a dispute that would require hiring an attorney, spending time in court and having a judge make a decision that may not be favorable. Sometimes legal advice is necessary but a long, drawn-out court battle is not an attractive option. And besides, you would prefer to keep your dispute private and not a matter of public record. However, in many cases, hiring an attorney to represent your interests in court is necessary and working with a mediator to help you and your other party work through any conflicts along the way can reduce attorney costs and expedite the court process.
"The Courts of this country should not be the places where resolution of disputes begins. They should be the places where the disputes end after alternative methods of resolving disputes have been considered and tried." -Justice Sandra Day O'Connor
